  2. It looks really effective. I see it as a cliff face with lots of foliage on the top! I love all your textual experiments :0)

  6. Jane, this is beautiful. I have used this technique with acrylics, but never thought of trying it with watercolors. Thank you for sharing.

  9. Experimenting is fun. Have you ever read any of Ann Blockley's books on creating textures with watercolors?

hi sharon ..there are many references of artist using gesso and gesso and tissue paper you might find these references interesting :

    nick simmons http://www.artgraphica.net/free-art-lessons/watercolor/painting-large-watercolors.html...

i used white tissue on top of watercolour paper here and applied gesso on the top of it ...let it dry and then applied watercolour ... ...gesso can make beautiful surface textures if applied to watercolour paper in small areas (you can see it on a bamboo painting excercise i did )...coloured tissue without gesso is also beautiful .
i mentioned ann blockley and john blockley in a previous post ..shirley trevena is a great ref too.

  13. Hello Jane. What wonderful paintings you make. Gesso + watercolors, beautiful final. I think to see mountains and reflect in water, is it ok?. It is brilliant. Warm regards

  18. Have also done a bit of experimenting with tissue paper......great fun, did some ducks and a tree trunk ages ago... seeing this has reminded me how effective it is especially if we're looking for texture in our work
