vine - sumi - e iv

© JANE MINTER

"vine"
"sumi-iv"
watercolour wash # 64
neutral tint W&N
55 x75cm Fabriano 300g/m2

........some of the old vines in the vineyard have incredible shapes  ...inspired by Lian Quan Zhen  and Federico Bianchi  vine paintings  .....i painted outside in the vineyard today ... posting  my first attempt of a "vine" sumi-e iv ...i don't have a hake brush so i used a 50mm flat brush and chinese brush  .

  1. For a first attempt at sumi-e iv I think this is gorgeous!
I have watched master Chinese Brush painters in the past and they wouldn't do much better in my opinion.
You have the lightness of touch required for this wonderful medium.
