..........posting another small texture swatch experimenting with watercolour on gesso collaged with tissue paper  - inspired by both John Blockley and Ann Blockley  -  Ann Blockley's  Watercolour Textures book is  a  fantastic reference on textures .

    Secondly, interest is roused
    Thirdly the subconscious scans the database for a likeness ... 'Scotch in the Rocks'
    Fourth ... a thirst!

    The previous post looks like a Turner sunset with reflections on the water.

    These experiments are really awe-inspiring and exciting ... bravo, Jane

  16. Beautiful colour and texture Jane.

    I used this techique as the base for a large piece - Dragon Gate. I overlaid the original tissue and watercolour with oils and gold leaf, letting sections show through. The base like this leads to all sorts of experimentation. I shall have a look for Ann's book, thanks for sharing.

  22. I came here to congratulate you on your SAA award, came across this one and just had to comment. This is stunning Jane and stands alone as a painting. I too love that book along with her new one which is even more inspiring. I was also fortunate to see her work in the SWA Exhibition yesterday, it's on an even higher level.
