 The  traces of water flow create increbile  textures and patterns in nature . I continue to explore this with watercolour washes .

“REFLECTION”
CANSON Moulin du Roy - rough grain 

Canson has introduced a new range of watercolour paper called “Moulin du Roy”  . Above is a watercolourwash using the “Moulin du Roy” rough grain which I like . It is interesting to work with . I’ve been making lots of washes with the new papers and the various grains rough , fine and hot press. It has become  increasingly difficult to find locally  one of my favorite watercolour papers Canson Fontenay . The “Moulin du Roy” fine grain is completely different to work with than Canson Fontenay paper . I will take time to keep experimenting with the new range.

SAA painting challenge 2014 - "on reflection"

I've only just received my copy of January 2014 SAA PAINT magazine . It's lovely to have had one of my watercolours "ESPRESSO POT" published alongside other SAA members work as an example of “metal objects” for this year's SAA challenge “On reflection" ... "getting to grips with painting metal painting surfaces ".

......posting a few of my first plein air watercolour sketches of the New Year .... there was very little snow at the beginning of the week in the mountains the cold grey overcast sky enhanced the colours of the trees .... it was a treat to sketch outside .... ongoing challenge.
