window boxes

......i painted this a few years ago but wanted to share this quick study without an initial pencil sketch as i painted the darks first as in the demo below ....this was a wonderful old derelict building with each window carefully blocked up .

It's unusual to put in the darks first isn't it? It clearly works though! I like these little studies - The one below has particularly lovely warm colours in the brickwork :0)

Great! The old house's roof reminds me of Japanese house's roof.
