.....I've started another course of watercolour lessons last week with Marina Marcolin ....the excercise  was to carefully build up the painting in sections with "wet in wet" washes ..background , vase , foreground  and  then leaves ..adding some fine details at the end "wet on dry"... The yellow fan shaped leaves of the Ginkgo Biloba are so beautiful in the autumn .

......i painted this a few years ago but wanted to share this quick study without an initial pencil sketch as i painted the darks first as in the demo below ....this was a wonderful old derelict building with each window carefully blocked up .

painted this yesterday  at class following Marina's demo . ..have to resolve a few areas still  ...the darks were painted first in this exercise ....it was a good study for textures ..it's a subject i like so will paint  this again with a different approach .

.....an initial wash no pencil combined "wet on dry" and "wet in wet"  adding a small amount of salt and spraying a little water  creating an  underpainting for a sunflower .

.... I wanted to mention this exhibition here...i hope anyone who lives nearby will visit the exhibition this week-end  ... I was happy to donate with many other artists a painting today for this exhibition after my  local watercolour association  Associazione Veneta Acquarello  asked members on behalve of Michela Gruppach if they could help  .....funds raised from the exhibition will be for the benefit of citizens who lost their homes when the Bacchiglione river flooded in the region of Veneto last month.

The Tower Bissara "Tower Square"  is situated alongside the Palliadian Basilica in Piazza dei Signori in the historical centre of Vicenza....it looks incredible at this time of year with all the christmas lights  ......this is an intial wash experimenting with "Christmas lights" and night-time view .
