.......my watercolour course  at Ossidiana with Marina Marcolin  finished this week ..the school organizes a collective exhibition of the course work of students of both Toni Vedù and Marina Marcolin  each June ....  ........some of the old vines in the vineyard have incredible shapes  ...inspired by Lian Quan Zhen  and Federico Bianchi  vine paintings  .....i painted outside in the vineyard today ... posting  my first attempt of a "vine" sumi-e iv ...i don't have a hake brush so i used a 50mm flat brush and chinese brush  .

.......as part of the 100 washes challenge  we were asked if we would like to create 10 washes with a Japanese theme ..I've started looking at  and practicing  "sumi-e" brushstrokes ... instead of using ink and rice paper ..I've used  black ivory and watercolour paper ...posting sumi-e iii  bamboo  .. after masking I added 2 pours of sap green and cyan  .. I've started looking at various books and videos wondering if  anyone  can recommend a good book or video on "sumi-e " ?
