Basilica Palladiana - section of façade

© JANE MINTER

"Basilica Palladiana"
section of  façade
watercolour study
32 x 41cm

experimenting with façades and watercolour washes .... I made a quick free hand sketch in blue biro on an existing  blue and purple "wet in wet" watercolour  wash and then added another wash loosely to suggest the  façade. .

Hi Jane, I really like the technique here of the existing watercolour wash, biro then detail...and your resulting painting is wonderful. Thanks for sharing, hopefully I can run with an idea like this - at least give it a go, all thanks to you, cheers....ann.

Jane, just brilliant! If I could get my head around buildings I would want to aspire to painting them like this.

love this painting for its colors and the freshness. One can feel the architecture immediately by looking at this watercolor. but I consider this one as a finished painting rather than a simply study.

Très joliment et délicatement suggérée.
Il est tellement facile de se perdre dans tous les détails de ce type de façade, un écueil que tu as parfaitement évité. Bravo !

Sometimes I draw with pencil over a wash, it's interesting, but now I feel like experimenting this! Wonderful result Jane! Your drawing is very good.I'm convinced that good drawing is the basis for a good work, dont you think so?
